Our Services
Assessment
An assessment will be carried out to identify the learner’s skill level. This usually occurs at home, school, and/or in the community. The type of assessment will depend on your child’s age and needs. Some examples are the VB-MAPP, EFL and ABLLS-R. Observations will be conducted and relevant information will be collected from family and other professionals involved in your child’s life.
The assessment process may take between two to eight hours, depending on the type of assessment.
Behaviour Support Plan
A behaviour support plan will be designed to target behaviours of concern specifically, if needed. This is important as these behaviours can often hinder progress and get in the way of learning new skills. This plan will describe the behaviours of concern in detail, the likely reasons why these behaviours occur (identified during an assessment) and how to reduce them.
The behaviour support plan will be reviewed after some data is collected to identify its effectiveness and changes will be made if necessary.
Report
A report will be written based on the assessment's outcomes. This report will include details regarding the child’s level for each skill area and suggestions for skill acquisition goals that will be part of the intervention plan.
Depending on the type of report, this may take between four to six hours to write.
Training
The consultant will provide training for the therapists to equip them to teach the skills outlined in the intervention plan. Training is also provided to parents or caregivers in order to promote learning and increase opportunities for skill acquisition. Training is provided during visits and/or meetings.
Visits
The consultant will conduct two hour long weekly or biweekly visits. These would normally involve:
Conducting assessments
Reviewing data collected
Providing training
Implementing new strategies when needed
Generally ensuring everything is running smoothly
